Kailis Pearls…. I’m sure I don’t need to explain the name to you because it is one of the best known Australian fine jewellery brands. MG Kailis Group hit the pearling industry in 1974 with the first store opening in Broome and has only grown and gone from strength to strength from there. 2005 saw the Kailis Australian Pearls brand launch and today they are represented in many locations across Australia as well as in over 60 locations throughout Spain and London.
The Kailis brand is not only well known but you can be sure when you are buying their products that you are getting unique, one off and amazing quality pieces. What’s not to love?!
Once upon a time you may have only seen yourself wearing pearls for formal events such as weddings or gala events but Kailis have turned this thought around, creating pieces to put on any day or night of the week, with everything from more casual to incredibly glamorous pieces. I guarantee you will find something…actually several things you will fall in love with. Pearls are not just for the older generation but for adults of any age, men and women and can be as modern or traditional as you want them to be.
Now for those of you that live in Perth I’m sure you will know of the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition that graces our stunning Cottesloe beach once a year. Not only are we lucky enough to have this exhibition in Perth but Bondi in Sydney also have it as well as Aarhus in Denmark. This remarkable exhibition gives local artists a chance to create masterpieces by hand and display them to the local community.
This year Kailis Pearls has partnered with Sculpture by the Sea to bring you some wonderful opportunities to win some of the gorgeous products from Kailis. It makes perfect sense for this iconic brand and well known event to team up, after all they are both linked to the ocean!
The partnership kicked off with a fun opening night which was held at the Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club that saw the crowd come and mingle with some of the exhibitions artists. Whilst sipping on champagne and nibbling on oysters the crowd were lucky enough to view some of the beautiful jewellery. Just enough time to add a few pieces to their wish list or perhaps convince their other half to buy them a little gift. I have included a few snaps below of the opening night which were taken by photographer Jarrad Seng.
So… what do you need to know?! Well the best part of all is that you still have one more week left to enter the competition. Once you have visited the exhibition at the beach you then have the opportunity to enter a draw to win $1000 worth of Kailis jewellery. How do you do this I hear you ask…. well simply visit the display in the Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club or the King Street store and fill out an application form. Tell them in 25 words or less what your favourite sculpture piece at the exhibition is and why… and if you are the lucky winner you will walk away with a very generous gift voucher to put towards some goodies.
I had the pleasure of visiting the King Street store and got to play dress ups. Every girls dream!! While in store I got to marvel at some sculptures by well renowned WA artist Ron Gomboc who has featured in the exhibition since 2007 and recently designed and produced The Australian Film Industry AACTA Awards.
Below are the two pieces of Ron’s that are displayed in the store until the end of the exhibition (24th March 2013). The photo’s simply don’t do them justice, so better still hop in store and have a look for yourself.
I can see you dreaming away now… what would you spend your voucher on if you won the competition?? Well I certainly know what I would spend it on… ok well come on… I can’t just pick one piece so below are my favourite items from my in store visit… decisions decisions!!
The “Adored Ring” boy oh boy did I fall IN LOVE with this ring!!! It is absolutely breathtaking and I never wanted to take it off! With a huge pearl on the top it is surrounded by black diamonds… so rare and oh so FABULOUS!! What girl wouldn’t love this?! The black and white really complement each other and would go with any outfit. Ahhh *sigh* I will keep dreaming!!
The “Versatility Strand” well there is not much else to say other than this is an absolute investment piece! When purchasing this piece you are not getting 1 item of jewellery but several!! Wear it as one long strand, or separate it into a choker, and two bracelets. Wait there is more, 2 shorter necklaces, or 1 longish strand and 1 bracelet. This is really an item that could be kept in the family for years and passed down to future generations. What I adored most about this piece is how perfectly large and round the pearls were, they glistened in the light and were so eye catching. This piece allows you to do so many different things and create so many different looks, I would be wearing the necklace long during the day and then transforming it to a choker for that night time party.
I mean I could go on and on for days showing you pictures of all the things I loved because let’s face it I pretty much loved the whole store but I think the best thing to do is hop in store and try on some of these beauties for yourself. Each piece and collection has a story and meaning behind it and you don’t really appreciate the beauty and quality of the items until you are wearing them!
There is such a wide variety of collections from couture, gold, silver, decadence and classics, you will definitely not walk out empty handed. Even if you just want a more relaxed piece to get your collection started they have some perfect bracelets to stack up with your existing jewellery. A great piece for this is the “Sliding Pearl Bracelet“, this would be a great gift to treat someone to for their upcoming birthday or special occasion. They even having something for the man in your life, a pen, cufflinks, you name it.
So I think now it’s time for you to pop down to the beach on one of the gorgeous balmy evenings this week and check out the sculptures and while you are there don’t forget to enter the competition. Remember…you have to be in it to win it! Enjoy!
